Glasfit Vuvuzela Television Commercial Created and Produced in Record Time
25/06/2010
Continuing our tradition of producing relevant, humorous and entertaining television commercials, our advertising agency, Gendel, produced a 20s ad capitalising on the irritating, noisy sound of the South African invented Vuvuzela, that has been deafening soccer fans in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The commercial was conceived and produced in under a week, resulting in some shattered nerves at our ad agency.
The concept is simple. A noisy Vuvuzela cracks the television screen, but not to worry, one call to Glasfit fixes it all. Within seconds a Glasfit technician, played by our very own Nqubeko Zulu, replaces the screen, accompanied by an enthusiastic roar from the crowd and more Vuvuzela blasts.
The entire Vuvuzela and glass cracking footage was created through sophisticated 3D animation and then ‘married’ to the live footage of Nqubeko fitting the glass.
The sound design was done by Paul Geddes of Sonovision and then striped onto the picture by Ilana Lakofski. The Vuvuzela was played by Lazarus who also works at Sonovision.
Watch our Vuvuzela commercial here and remember: We fit the best, best.
